A patient has died after an ambulance transporting him to hospital was involved in an accident on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. This writer understands that the patient had been admitted to the Moi Referral Hospital and was being moved to the Coast General Hospital when the accident occurred. According to an eyewitness account, the driver of the ill-fated ambulance lost control of the speeding vehicle, veered off the road before rolling several times. Police officers in Nakuru are holding 86 people who were arrested partying at a Nakuru bar on Saturday night in total disregard of the dusk to dawn curfew and other measures aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19. Three people have been confirmed dead and seven others injured after a matatu collided head-on with a lorry along the Makutano-Embu road in Kirinyaga County. While confirming the incident, Mwea -West Police Commander Aden Alio said the ill-fated Nissan Matatu was headed to Ngurubani from Makutano while the lorry was headed to Makutano when the accident occurred. The number of novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Kenya rose to 60,704 on Friday after 1,109 more people tested positive from a sample size of 7,153 tested in the last 24 hours. Moi County Referral Hospital located in Voi, Taita Taveta County, has been closed after eight staffers tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the last two days. Dr Ayisi’s family confirmed on Thursday morning that the deceased succumbed to Covid-19 complications at the Mater Hospital Hospital in Nairobi where he was receiving treatment.
