Police on Monday rescued three victims of armed robbery in Mlango Kubwa area, Nairobi. During the incident, the police fatally injured two of the gangsters, while one escaped unhurt. According to the Directorate of Acrimony investigations (DCI), the armed men refused to surrender, prompting the officers to open fire. A second suspect linked to the murder of Nakuru GK Prison warder Caroline Jepchirchir Chesire was on Monday handed over to authorities after spending days on the run. Reports indicate Raymond Kiplimo was handed over to authorities by his family. Nakuru DCIO Mr David Wangai confirmed that the suspect was presented at Nakuru Main Prison at around 5pm. Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Monday raised alarm over irrelevant degree courses offered in Kenyan Universities that no single student selected during the University and College placement exercise. Speaking during the release of 2019/2020 universities and colleges student placement results, the CS noted that 98 programmes offered by at least 40 universities did not get any placement. Although there were applicants, no student was selected to pursue the courses since they either did not qualify or were placed to one of their other choices. Detectives from the Flying Squad unit have arrested six people in connection to 50 kilograms of fake gold busted at Yaya Centre in Kilimani, Nairobi. A flight from Nairobi to Kabunde Airstrip in Homa Bay County was on Monday morning delayed for more than an hour following protests by local residents. The plane from Wilson Airport, which was scheduled to land at 7.15am, touched down at 8.30am. Residents living around the airstrip protested delayed land compensation by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), paralyzing activities at the airstrip. Two Cuban doctors posted in Lamu county have left the county abruptly following the recent abduction of their colleagues in Mandera. Reports indicates the doctors cited insecurity as the reason for their move. Lamu county boarders neighbouring Somalia country. A third-year student at Pwani University in Kilifi County is fighting for her life in hospital after she was wounded by a man alleged to be her ex-lover. Nancy Chepkemboi, who is currently admitted at Coast General Hospital, sustained serious injuries on her chest. The attacker has been identified as Henry Kipkoech, a student at Kenyatta University student. Naftali Njami Kinuthia,the man who attacked medical student Ivy Wangechi, has been discharged from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret. Kinuthia, an employee of betting firm Sport Pesa, was admitted at MTRH on Tuesday after he was attacked by local boda boda riders following the murder of the sixth-year Moi University School of Medicine student.
