A third-year student at Pwani University in Kilifi County is fighting for her life in hospital after she was wounded by a man alleged to be her ex-lover.

Nancy Chepkemboi, who is currently admitted at Coast General Hospital, sustained serious injuries on her chest.

The attacker has been identified as Henry Kipkoech, a student at Kenyatta University student.

Reports indicate Kipkoech stormed Chepkemboi’s room in the school hostels carrying a bag containing three knives.

    He attacked the girl severally.

Chepkemboi’s distress cries raised alarm waking her colleagues who came to her rescue.

Kipkoech was arrested and booked at Kilifi Police Station as investigations continue.

According to close friend accounts, the two, had sired a kid together.

The police are yet to unravel the motive behind the attack.

The incident comes barely a week after a sixth-year Moi University medical student was killed in broad daylight.

Ivy Wangechi was killed outside Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) where she was doing her final medical school practicals.

Her killer, identified as Naftali Njahi Kinuthia has since confessed to authorities that continuous rejection by the woman he loved led him to commit the crime.

The 28-year-old Sport Pesa employee, was admitted at MTRH on Tuesday after he was attacked by local boda boda riders following the brutal murder.

He has since been discharged and is set to be arraigned on Monday.

Both Ms Wangechi and Kinuthia’s families have acknowledged that the two were childhood friends, however, what pushed Kinuthia to commit the heinous act remains a mystery to them.

The body of Ms Wangechi was on Thursday moved to Kenyatta University Hospital mortuary as funeral arrangements continue.

She will be raid to rest on Thursday, April 18, at her parents’ rural home in Othaya, Nyeri county.
