Police in Kisumu have launched manhunt for suspected gangsters who raided a shop in Kisumu’s down town area, making away with Sh1 million. The suspects raided Kavirondo Fishnets Sundry and Hardware limited near New Victoria Hotel in broad daylight. Officers drawn from the Anti-Counterfeit Agency(ACA) have shut down a home baking flour factory in Runyes, Embu county. This is after the officers busted the factory manufacturing counterfeit home baking flour. During the incident, ACA impounded 25 tonnes of the counterfeit flour and 23,500 packaging material, both worth over Sh10 million. According to Chief Inspector Daar Bulle from the agency, two suspects including the owner of the factory were arrested during the operation. Four people are in police custody after they were nabbed with bhang worth Sh200,000 in the vehicle they were traveling in. The four, Daniel Njuguna (owner of the vehicle), Boniface Muthee (teacher at Gurumesa Academy in Moyale) and two other unidentified suspects, were arrested on Thursday evening. According to a police statement, the four had hidden the bhang in the rear tyres of the car – Toyota Alphard of registration plate KBU 456C – heading to Nairobi from Moyale. Kenyan doctors studying in Cuba will now be paid an additional of Sh144,000 every month on top of their monthly payments, the government has said. Currently, the doctors are paid stipends amounting to Sh50,800 monthly. According to Health PS Susan Mochache, the figure was increased from Sh36,000 last year after doctors complained that the money was too little. The doctors had also raised concerns over free accommodation and meals they were being offered. They demanded allowances that would enable them to take care of their own accommodation and food. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has handed over recovered public properties estimated at Sh780 million to respective caretakers. The handing ceremony held at Sarova Woodlands in Nakuru, saw 11 public assets handed over to Nakuru and Bomet Counties.
