Four people are in police custody after they were nabbed with bhang worth Sh200,000 in the vehicle they were traveling in.

The four, Daniel Njuguna (owner of the vehicle), Boniface Muthee (teacher at Gurumesa Academy in Moyale) and two other unidentified suspects, were arrested on Thursday evening.

According to a police statement, the four had hidden the bhang in the rear tyres of the car – Toyota Alphard of registration plate KBU 456C – heading to Nairobi from Moyale.

The police reportedly could smell the bhang when they stopped the vehicle but they could not tell where it was hidden.

After a thorough search, they found the 5Kgs bhang stashed in two tubeless tyres of the vehicle.

Marsabit County Police Commander Steve Oloo confirmed the incident.

He said the two will be arraigned in court on Friday.
