K24 TV presenter Betty Kyallo’s sister Mercy Kyallo has revealed one of the most trying moments her family had to put up with for a long time.
According to Mercy, her brother’s battle with the bottle was the most humbling experience she went through.
“One of the lowest moments in our lives and the most humbling was when our brother was battling with alcoholism,” Mercy told a local daily.
Despite the brother being drug free after the family took him for rehab, the whole experience still remains fresh in her mind.
Mercy, who is the founder of Yallo Leather Company- an online firm – also disclosed that the family avoided talking about the condition but vows not to judge anyone undergoing drug addiction.
“We never talk about that and we never really talk about mental health. He is now perfect and back to himself,” said Mercy.
Instead, Mercy revealed that this year she will focus on highlighting such conditions in the society to inspire more people that drug addiction can be controlled if proper measures are put in place.

“I respect anybody working with anything to do with the mental health. As a society we never talk about mental health,” she said.
Further, she encourages more people to come out and create mental health awareness like many diseases affecting our societies.
“Everyone talks about physical abuse or emotional abuse, but no one talks about mental health or even accepts that it is a growing problem in Kenya. It is a disease just like any other.”
