Body of Martin Mwau, second victim of Mlolongo 3 found at City Mortuary in Nairobi

A second body of one of the men who went missing from Mlolongo area after their abduction was found at the City Mortuary.

The body of Martin Mwau was found at the mortuary the same place that of Justus Mutumwa Musyoki was discovered.

Officials revealed the bodies were delivered to the mortuary on December 17, a day after their abduction from Mlolongo area.

The family of the deceased identified Mwau’s body at the mortuary. They were informed the body was picked up from Mowlem area in the city.

The fingerprints of the deceased were picked and confirmed to be his on Wednesday January 29.
The families have demanded answers over the murder. A search for a third victim of the abduction was ongoing Thursday.

The body of Justus Mutumwa Musyimi was earlier found dead in Ruai area before it was moved to the mortuary.

Family lawyer Dan Maanzo confirmed body was discovered in Ruai and moved to City Mortuary, Nairobi.
“A quick search on the body has confirmed it is that of the missing man Mutumwa who is party to the case in court. This information has come to us as the case proceeded in court,” said Maanzo.

He demanded thorough investigation into the saga.

The family identified the body on Thursday.

An autopsy is planned on the bodies to establish how they died.

The revelations came as the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director of Directorate of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin appeared in court and denied the deceased and two others who are still missing are in their custody.

The Mlolongo residents Justus Mutumwa, Martin Mwau and Karani Muema were reportedly abducted on December 16, 2024, and their whereabouts remained unknown.

This means only Muema is yet to be found.

Amin and Kanja explained to justice Chacha Mwita through their counsel, Paul Nyamodi, that the report of the three missing youths was filed at Athi River’s Mlolongo Police Station. Kanja confirmed that the missing persons’ reports were officially recorded at Athi River Police Station under OB No. 23/21/12/24 and Mlolongo Police Station under OB No. 43/25/12/2024.

“I am appearing before this court pursuant to a court order that directed I do appear on account of three persons who were reported missing from Athi River and Mlolongo Townships,” Kanja said in court.
Kanja sought to reassure the public about their safety by emphasising the security measures in place during the holiday season.

“Your honour, I want to let the people of Kenya know they are safe. We have just come from the festive season, and throughout the entire season, people enjoyed Christmas because this country is safe. So, I want to assure you that we are safe. I am the Inspector General of Police Service.”

Amin said investigations are ongoing over the matter.

“I also wish to state that the missing persons are not under the custody of the national police service. We have not arrested them and they are not under our custody,” said Amin.

In closing, Amin said under the current circumstances they can neither produce their bodies nor can they prefer any charges.
