CS Kinyanjui Threatens To Cancel Sh500 Million Bungoma CAIP Contract Over Delays

The Sh500 million County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) project in Bungoma is facing possible termination after Governor Kenneth Lusaka and Investment, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of construction.

The project, which was expected to be completed by August 28, 2025, has only achieved 30 percent progress.

Both the county and national governments accused the contractor of inefficiency despite funds already being released.

“We cannot allow Bungoma to lag behind while other counties are moving forward,” said Governor Lusaka, warning that accountability will be demanded if the contractor fails to deliver.

CS Kinyanjui also warned that the contract will be cancelled if the delays persist.

“Other counties have completed or are close to completing their CAIPs, yet here we are at only 30 percent. There will be no extensions. The contract will be terminated if this continues,” he said.

He emphasized that the industrial park is crucial for transforming rural economies, adding that farmers and small-scale producers risk losing out due to the delays.

“These facilities are meant to reduce post-harvest losses, add value to produce, and create jobs. Every delay is a setback to economic empowerment,” he noted.
