The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on Sunday confirmed receipt of 10 case files in relation to the multi-billion National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

The ODPP confirmed receiving the said files from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as they look forward to bringing to book those found found guilty.

According to the newly appointed DPP, Noordin Haji, a team of experienced Prosecutors led by himself is currently undertaking final review of the files.

“The DPP wishes to express his appreciation to the efforts and dedication of Multi Agency Task Force Team in ensuring expeditious and thorough investigations,” the DPP said on Twitter.

Haji has in the recent past maintained that his officers will work round the clock ‘to combat the vice’ that is corruption.

“I shall rededicate and reinvigorate the effort against corruption and all economic crimes,” he told a local daily.

But appearing before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Friday, PS Lilian Mbogo Omollo denied there being a loss of Sh9 billion as reported in the media.

“I do not think it is possible for that kind of money to be lost from an institution and the Auditor General for whom me as an accounting officer I live in fear of then does not find it, for me it is mind-boggling. I am not sure how it is that it never came to my attention that Sh9 billion was lost,” PS Omollo said.

Deputy President William Ruto on the other hand called for speedy investigations in to the matter and for the prosecution of those found culpable.
