EACC says they recovered Sh65 million from the home of Nairobi CEC Analo in a raid

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) clarified and confirmed they recovered at least Sh65 million from the home of Nairobi City County Chief Officer for Urban Development and Planning, Patrick Analo Akivaga in a raid.

The money included Sh51,300,000 and 113,000 US Dollars (approximately Sh14,000,000), at his residence in Syokimau within Machakos County and in his motor vehicle’s boot.

Other valuable evidence recovered included several title deeds, motor vehicle log books, laptops, land and motor vehicle sale agreements, and approval plans from Nairobi County Government, mobile phones, iPads, electronic accessories, and other documentary evidence.

The Commission is investigating him over allegations of corruption, conflict of interest, abuse of office, bribery and unexplained wealth.

The detectives raided the home and recovered the cash stashed in two briefcases.

There was no immediate comment from Analo.

According to the Commission, the investigations cover the period between the 2019/2020 and 2025/2026 financial years.

The EACC alleges that between 2020 and 2026, Akivaga received more than Sh170 million through numerous cash and M-Pesa deposits deemed suspicious by investigators.

The Commission suspects that the funds may have originated from corrupt dealings linked to conflict of interest, abuse of office and bribery.

Preliminary investigations further indicate that the public official allegedly accumulated substantial wealth that is not commensurate with his known legitimate sources of income.

The Commission is currently conducting investigations to establish the source of the funds and determine whether any anti-corruption and economic crimes laws were violated, a statement said.

Akivaga has not been found guilty of any offence, and the investigations remain ongoing.

Any criminal liability will be determined upon the conclusion of investigations and through the due legal process, the commission said.
