The Nairobi County Assembly Speaker, Beatrice Elachi and Assembly Clerk Jacob Ngwele have been suspended to pave way for investigations over corruption claims.
The suspension comes after the duo got into a fist fight last week over the acquisition of the Speaker’s house in Karen and on the eve of an impeachment planned to oust Speaker Elachi over alleged abuse of office.

The Assembly Clerk accused the Speaker of having interests in the purchase of the residence since it is owned by one of her relatives.
Majority Leader, Abdi Guyo announced that the County Assembly service board has decided to suspend the team to allow time for investigations without interference.
Guyo also confirmed that they were in possession of a recording of the Speaker’s husband inflating the price of the house so they can benefit from the tender.
