Police in Kwale County e launched investigations following the murder of a 66-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a farm in Samburu Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as Mbodze Nyamawi Njamo, was reportedly discovered by her granddaughter lying in a pool of blood.
Police officers who visited the scene established that the woman had sustained multiple cut wounds inflicted by a sharp object. The injuries were found on the left side of her neck, left ear and both hands.
Investigators believe the attack was carried out by unknown assailants, with the injuries proving fatal.
The scene was documented by detectives before the body was moved to Kinango Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Authorities said the motive behind the killing has not yet been established and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The case remains under active investigation.
Elsewhere, police in Kisii County are investigating an incident in which the body of an unidentified woman was found outside a homestead in Gucha South Sub-County.
According to the police, the body was discovered at Nyandito Village in Bomonyara Location.
The deceased, an African female estimated to be about 34 years old, was found lying face down outside a homestead.
Her clothes were described as water-soaked.
According to residents, the woman was not known to be a local but was often seen moving around neighbouring Kanying’ombe Village in Rongo Sub-County, Migori County.
Police said the scene was processed and documented, and no visible injuries were observed on the body at the time of examination.
The body was taken to Tabaka Mission Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending identification and a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding her death.
And a woman was injured after a gang of armed robbers raided her home in Kuria West Sub-County, Migori County, making away with cash and gold valued at about Sh170,000.
The victim told investigators that at around 8 p.m., four men stormed her house. One of the attackers was armed with a rifle, while the others carried pangas and metal-headed clubs.
The gang allegedly assaulted her on the head, stomach and back as they demanded money from the sale of gold, reportedly sold by her husband the previous day. The couple is involved in small-scale gold trading.
The robbers escaped with Sh70,000 in cash and five grams of gold valued at approximately Sh100,000.
Before fleeing, the gang fired a shot into the air and escaped towards the Maeta area using a getaway vehicle whose description could not immediately be established.
Crime scene investigators recovered one live 7.62mm special round at the scene, which was retained as an exhibit for forensic examination.
The injured woman was rushed to Mother and Child Hospital in Kehancha Township, where she received treatment.
Police have launched investigations and are pursuing leads to identify and arrest the suspects behind the violent robbery.
