The hotly contested August 8 election is upon us and the exercise kicked off at 6am in most parts of the country.

The young and old all came out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right.

In some parts, the KIEMS kits failed but calm has prevailed with only a few cases of disruptions.

There was commotion in Starehe where police threw teargas and a woman injured. Calm has been restored.

The President, Uhuru Kenyatta cast his ballot and thereafter asked his opponents to accept the will of the people should he win and vice versa.

His opponent, NASA’s Raila Odinga has also cast his ballot in Kibra accompanied by his family.
