A 25-year-old man died on Tuesday after being electrocuted while installing Wi-Fi at an apartment in Kimbo Shopping Center, Juja, Kiambu County.

Witnesses said the deceased, identified as Patrophas Sang Kimutai, accidentally threw a Wi-Fi cable over a Kenya Power and Lighting power line on the rooftop.

The cable made contact with the high-voltage line, resulting in fatal electrocution.

Kimutai was rushed to MTM Hospital, Kimbo, but was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was transported to KU Funeral Home pending autopsy.

Authorities have cautioned workers to strictly adhere to safety protocols when working near high-voltage power lines and urged companies to enforce proper training and precautions.

Such incidents have been on the rise in estates amid calls for caution on the side of the electricians.

Elsewhere in Kabati, Muranga County, one Irine Mwende was found dead after a suspected sudden death.

Neighbours said they saw the deceased’s child aged six standing outside their house and asked her why she had not reported to school.

The child replied that her mother had not woken up to prepare her for school.

It was then they went to check and found the deceased lying on her bed unresponsive with no visible injuries.

The body was moved to the mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

And police in Kamkunji, Nairobi are investigating the discovery of the body of a man in the basement of Habatullah Building in Grogon area.

The house had been flooded following heavy rains that were experienced last Friday, police said. The man’s skin had started to peel off and the body was moved to the mortuary.

The discovery was made on Tuesday as workers at the building pumped out water from the floor.

The floods killed at least 30 people in Nairobi alone, officials said adding more than 100 cars were damaged in the chaos.

Most of the victims are yet to be identified and the bodies are lying in mortuary. The rains also killed 20 other people in other parts of the country, police said.
