Embakasi residents, through their resident association Nyayo Embakasi Resident Assosiation have successfully stopped two National Social Security Fund officials from grabbing public land in the area allocated to the Kenya Police.

In 2012, the two officers, Moses Chesoto who is the General Manager Finance and the then Chairman Mohamed Daud Aden hatched a plan to grab the said piece of land L.R. No. 97/1585/006 which was allocated to the Embakasi Police Division for expansion.

According to a letter sent to the County Government of Nairobi through their chairman Rober Alai, NERA says that the duo allocated themselves the land without revoking the previous allocation.

“Without revoking the previous allocation, the duo allocated themselves the piece of land indirectly through a company called Handaki Investments Limited with shady directors of the same as masks to the whole corrupt scheme,” says Alai in the letter.

The scheme was discovered when successive Officers Commanding the Police Division (OCPDs) asked to be given access to the piece of land, the latest being a communication sent to NSSF by the current OCPD inquiring on the state of land.

“A letter dated March 26 2018 from NSSf General Manager in charge of Finance, Mr Moses Cheseto, and written on behalf of the Managing Trustee Confirmed out the worst fears, the said piece of land has been grabbed. The land was repossessed and allegedly reallocated to one Mohamed Daud Aden,” continues Alai.

In the letter, the police were moved to some unspecified piece of land only identified by plot plan 5232, a private land with a multi-storey building on it.

Following the revelation letter sent to the county government and copied to the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Lands, the Inspector General of Police and othe government agencies, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko ordered county officials to fence the land, stating that it is a public land.
