Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning, John Mbadi Ng’ongo, has officially revoked the appointment of former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati as Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) Board of Trustees.

The revocation was announced through a Gazette Notice dated June 27, 2025.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1)(a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati as the Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, with effect from the 27th June, 2025,” the notice read.

Wangamati was appointed to the role in June 2024 by then-Treasury CS Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u. His tenure as chairperson has now been cut short just a year into the position.

Wangamati previously served as Bungoma’s second governor between 2017 and 2022.
