Ghana’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Damptey Bediako Asare, has completed his tour of duty.

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, President William Ruto hosted Ambassador Asare at State House, Nairobi, where he bid him farewell.

President Ruto praised the long-standing relations between Kenya and Ghana, noting that the two countries share a strong and cordial partnership that dates back to the pre-independence era.

“Ties between our peoples have been boosted by five State Visits on both sides, expanding air links through Kenya Airways, and advanced plans to make Accra our airline’s hub in West Africa,” President Ruto said.

He added that cooperation between the two nations continues to grow in areas such as trade and investment, tourism, education, science and technology, all supported by various agreements and memoranda of understanding.

Ruto wished him well in his next national assignment.

Ambassador Asare, who took office in September 2021 after presenting his credentials to then-President Uhuru Kenyatta, also served as Ghana’s representative to UNEP and UN-Habitat in Nairobi. He was accredited to Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Burundi.

A career diplomat with over 24 years of experience, Asare has served in Ghana’s foreign missions in Moscow, London, New York, and Addis Ababa. He has also represented Ghana at the United Nations and the African Union.

Before his appointment to Kenya, he was Director of Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation at Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the University of Ghana and a certificate in Strategic Decision-Making from the London School of Economics.

Ambassador Asare is married and has two children.
