The government has through the Police Spokesperson, Charles Owino responded to allegations by Siaya Senator, James Orengo that eight highly trained security officers are being used by the government to trail NASA’s Raila Odinga.

Orengo on Tuesday addressed a presser during which he made the allegations.

“Yesterday, eight of the 60 officers were released from the field in Wajir to Nairobi. The eight later relocated to Kiambu on an unspecified mission,” Orengo said.
He also claimed that NASA had received information that a number of other police officers had been armed and their identification documents confiscated. Orengo said the officers could be used to harm civilians during and after elections.
Speaking on NTV, Police spokesperson Charles Owino has denied the claims saying they are only meant to force the government to provide more security officers to Raila.
Owino also noted that NASA had asked for more security for Raila but were denied as there aren’t enough police officers.
“We have absolutely no reason to trail Raila Odinga, we have a responsibility to protect him. I think Orengo wants to creat curiosity so that they get more security officers for Raila. I am aware they asked for more police officers but we gave them what we thought was sufficient,” Owino said.
