    Head Teachers Urge NTSA To Lift Travel Ban To Avoid Delays On Term Dates

    Head teachers in Kisii have urged the National transport and safety Authority (NTSA) to lift the night travel ban in order to avoid delays in school activities during the first term.

    The Chairman of the Association, Jairus Onchoke asked for the ban to be lifted for atleast two weeks until all students are settled in.

    The have also accused the Authority of exposing the students to dangerous environment as they are forced to spend the night in the stations as they wait for transport.

    He said that students who were affected by the ban are forced to spend nights in night lodgings exposing them to danger and also forcing some to engage in immoral behavior,

    “The transport authority should have considered the timing of the ban and not impose it when students are reporting to their respective schools.” he told The Star

    The headteachers said that corrupt police were the reason behind the accidents that have seen about 250 dead and that the Inspector general should fire those found to be engaging in corruption.

    They also advised the NTSA to put CCTV cameras on strategic hotpots to monitor reckless drivers.
