Jason Robertson is an American professional ice hockey left winger currently playing for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Born on July 22, 1999, in Arcadia, California, he has established himself as one of the league’s most consistent and productive offensive players.
Of Filipino descent on his mother’s side and Scottish on his father’s, Robertson takes pride in his unique background as one of a small number of players of Filipino heritage to reach the NHL.
He grew up in a hockey-loving family with season tickets to the Los Angeles Kings, where he and his brothers would attend games dressed in full mini hockey gear.
Siblings
Jason’s younger brother, Nicholas Robertson, plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL after being selected in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
The two brothers have often been highlighted together for their shared journey to professional hockey, their competitive yet supportive relationship forged through backyard and family rink battles, and moments such as both scoring multiple goals on the same day in February 2025, the first such occurrence for brothers since the Bure brothers in 2000.
Additionally, Jason has an older sister named Brianne, who is a professional martial artist specializing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Career
Robertson’s path to the NHL followed a somewhat unconventional route that included strong junior hockey development in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
He was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the second round, 39th overall, in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
After excelling in the OHL with teams like the Kingston Frontenacs and Niagara IceDogs—where he posted an impressive 117 points in 62 games during the 2018-19 season—he turned professional and split time between the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars and the NHL.
Robertson made his NHL debut in the 2019-20 season but broke out more fully in 2020-21, earning a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team.
He quickly became a cornerstone of the Stars’ forward group, known for his smooth skating, elite playmaking, goal-scoring touch, and ability to drive offense from the wing.
Over his career, he has consistently delivered high point totals, including multiple 40-goal seasons and strong two-way contributions that have helped the Stars remain perennial playoff contenders.
Accolades
Robertson was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2021.
In 2023, he was selected to play in the NHL All-Star Game and earned a spot on the NHL First All-Star Team after a breakout campaign that included a career-high 109 points.
He has also been recognized with weekly NHL First Star honors and has led or ranked near the top of the Stars in key offensive categories such as goals, assists, and points in multiple seasons.
