    KDF officer arrested over murder of wife in altercation in Nakuru Town

    A Kenya Defence Forces officer was arrested after he fatally stabbed his wife in an altercation at their home in Nakuru County.

    The incident happened in St Mary’s area on April 14 and left the officer, a Captain based at Gilgil Military Base arrested, police said.

    The couple’s house help told police the deceased woman identified as Ann Mugweru, 29 and an accountant in the area had been engaged in a quarrel with the husband.

    It was then the husband is said to have stabbed the woman in the stomach fatally injuring her.

    She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

    Police were alerted and visited the scene where they arrested the military officer for further grilling and possible arraignment as the body of the woman was moved to the mortuary for autopsy.

    Police advised parties to avoid such altercations for safety in general.

    Meanwhile, a man will face murder charges after his wife who had sustained knife injuries in a fight in their house in Port Reiz area, Changamwe, Mombasa died in hospital.

    The deceased identified as Susan Mito had sustained stab wounds on April 5 in an altercation in their house over domestic issues.

    She was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to the injuries on April 14, police said.

    The husband who had been arrested and arraigned for attempted murder will now face murder charges, police said on Thursday as the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

    The motive of the attack was not immediately known, police said.

    And a 33-year-old man was found murdered in a maize plantation in Luanda Sub-county, Vihiga County, in what police suspect is a brutal attack by unknown assailants.

    According to the police, the incident happened on April 15, 2026 and the lifeless body of the man—later identified as Stephen Odindo—was discovered at Elufuri village in Sunrise sub-location.

    Police found the body lying in a maize plantation next to a mabati house and added preliminary observations indicated that the deceased had sustained visible injuries to the face, believed to have been inflicted using a sharp object.

    The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was moved to Coptic Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.

    Police have launched investigations into the killing and are pursuing leads to identify and apprehend those responsible.
