Kisii National Polytechnic Principal Tom Mulat dismissed calls for his resignation from office.
He said he was not a politician to help him fight boardroom battles in the media.
“If it is about education let’s talk but not i will not respond to politicians peddling rumors in the streets,” he told journalists at his office before hastily ordering them out.
“I now beg that you leave so that i enter into a meeting,” he told journalists.
The journalists had visited the institution to seek give a rejoinder from him over the litany of accusations leveled against him by various politicians and the college student leaders.
On Wednesday, former Ward Reps Samuel Apoko and Kefa Mogaka ganged up asking Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba to order for his transfer citing graft and mismanagement.
They said arbitrary sackings of the locally sourced casual staff working at the college by the principal paints a bad legacy since he took helm.
Apoko described the ongoings at the institution as ‘ grave and unsettling’ thus warranting ‘investigations’ and higher political interventions.
He spoke of wrangles between the principal and other leaders saying they were derailing service delivery at the college.
“For the institution to move forward these issues must be addressed or he goes,” Apoko said adding that Mulat had been meddling in the community affairs.
Kefa Mogaka separately accused the principal of orchestrating nepotism in recruitment of staff.
“We are privy to ongoing staff reorganizations largely targeting people employed from the locality and being replaced by those from his community. This is absurd and must stop,” stated Mogaka.
Samuel Apoko is former (Kiogoro MCA while Mogaka was his (Kisii Central) counterpart.
Mulat, however, scoffed at any attempt to remove him.
He said he would not engage his detractor on media.
“Am just here to work, not engage in politics,” he said.
