And police saved three suspects from being lynched by a mob after they were accused of killing a fisherman in Muhuru Bay, Nyatike, Migori County.
This happened on December 29, 2025 after the body of Zadock Oketch was found decomposed and floating between Migingo Beach and Muhuru Bay. Oketch had been reported missing on December 27 after he went fishing with other fishermen.
The body was discovered two days later and police said it had a visible injury on the forehead, which is believed to have been inflicted by a blunt object.
The news of the body having an injury prompted a mob to raid the homes of the three men who were last seen with the deceased and tried to lynch them. Police rushed to their rescue and arrested them.
Police had to explain to the mob the need for investigations into the incident for justice. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere in Ahero, Kisumu County, a suspect was lynched by a mob after he stabbed a man in a failed robbery.
The victim was stabbed in the stomach and rushed to the hospital in a serious condition.
It was then that a mob landed on the suspect and stoned him to death. The body was later moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for action.
