    Matiang’i, Balala Visit JKIA Over Security Concerns

    Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Tourism counterpart Najib Balala checked in at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) unannounced. The purpose of their visit was to address security concerns at the international airport.

    Matiang’i disclosed that President Uhuru Kenyatta had categorically instructed that they focus on ensuring that the direct flights to USA become a reality this year.

    Matiang’i also said that this was their third impromptu visit to the airport and that he has noticed commendable improvements especially at the immigration department. He spoke about the issue that was raised by passengers at the customs department and they assured the CS that things would change for the better.

    “We have seen commendable improvement especially at the Immigration department, We have had some challenges at KRA’s customs department and they have agreed to address them amicably,” the Cabinet Secretary said.
