Women football like in many African countries is a new but exciting “in thing” in Kenya and it is spreading like wild fires across the country.

The nation’s attention was aroused two years back when Kenya’s women’s senior team, Harambee Starlets, defied all odds to qualify for the Africa Women Cup of Nations for the very first.

Regionally, the ladies have also been doing well, finishing runners-up in the 2016 Cecafa Women’s Championship in Uganda.

This year’s edition of the tournament in Rwanda was nonetheless relatively low key for the Starlets for other reasons but not lack of talents.

The on field exploits have earned them faithful fans and admirers alike.

The team is by far the Kenya’s most promising senior national football outfit currently especially in this era where their male counterparts have been dishing out heartaches game after game.
