It is work as usual for Migori Governor Okoth Obado who on Monday reported to his office after spending over a month in remand.

The embattled county boss was received by locals and county employees as he sought to take over county operations.

Obado has been away after he was charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Sharon Otieno and that of their unborn child.

On Wednesday, he was granted bail by Justice Jessie Lessit on condition that he stays 20 kilometres away from Homa Bay county where the deceased’s parents live.

The governor, whose Rapogi home is less than 20 kilometres away from Homa Bay has been forced to reside at his town house.

The Nation reports that his aides fetched his personal belongings shortly after he landed in Migori from Nairobi.

On Friday, Obado thanked the people of Migori for standing by him and promised to “effectively work for the people of Migori as their governor.”

“I urge all our leaders, regardless of their political or ethnic affiliations, to embrace peace and unity so that as a family we steer forward the development agenda of our county. Thank you so much; may God bless you all. #MyCounty_MyPride,” he said after blaming some lawmakers for his woes.

His co-accused; Caspal Obiero and Michael Oyamo are still in remand as they await trial which was set for May 2019.
