President Uhuru to skip Presidential Debate – Jubilee SG Raphael Tuju

uhuru

President Uhuru Kenyatta, also the Jubilee Party presidential candidate will skip the Monday presidential debates over what is said to be failure by the organizers to brief the Jubilee campaign team.

Tuju and Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe revealed the organizers were yet to contact the Jubilee campaign.

It is also not clear who will moderate the debates, as many of the ranking Kenyan journalists are known partisans, some with active links to either NASA or Jubilee.

Presidential debates are not mandatory in Kenya and no law, or known regulation, facilitates their being held.

It is not the first time the Uhuru is threatening not to attend the debate. In 2013, he also declined to attend, but later changed his mind and attended.

With a crowded field of jokers and publicity-seekers, this year’s presidential debate won’t add much value to front-runner candidates Uhuru and Raila.
