Kenya’s second largest stadium, Nyayo Sadium, will not be ready for use any soon.

Nyayo alongside Kasarani Stadium was closed May last year for renovations intended to bring it up to FIFA standards in readiness for the 2018 CHAN.

But since the tournament was whisked away by CAF due to unpreparedness, the work that was supposed to be completed in 60 days has completely stalled.

Latest checks indicate that there is no contractor on site with the only signs of life being security guards manning the facility.

Kasarani escaped the same fate as gaming giants SportPesa stepped in to ensure the work, especially on the playing surface was completed.

In March this year, Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Achesa pledged to have Nyayo ready in 60 days amidst claims that the government had not paid for the work that the contractor had been done.
