    Rider found murdered in Lamu

    A rider was found murdered and his body left near his motorcycle in Kibaoni, Lamu County.

    Police said John Ngigi, 33 was killed by unknown assailants on September 2, 2025 before his body was discovered on the roadside with blood oozing from the mouth, ears and nose.

    His dental formula had also been badly damaged while there were bruises on his ribs and he had a swollen face.

    Police said they found a Sh200 note spread on the ground and his cap. His motorcycle was found about 30 meters away from where the body lay.

    The motive of the murder was not immediately known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

    In Tana River’s Madogo area, the body of one Patrick Mutuku Nzuvi, 37 was found lying in the middle of the road and in a pool of blood after a suspected murder.

    Police said the body had a deep cut wound on the back and the motive of the murder is yet to be known.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said of the September 2 incident.

    In Narok, a casual worker at a farm died after he had been attacked by unknown assailants.

    Police said David Bargelo, 50 succumbed to the injuries in hospital after the attack in the Nchurra area. The motive of the attack was not immediately known, police said.

    The man had deep cut wounds on both arms suspected to have been inflicted using sharp objects.

    The body was moved to a local mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

    Police say murder cases have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them. Most of the incidents are pending in courts while others are yet to be cracked.

    Up to eight murder cases are reported on a daily basis, police say.
