Murdered lawyer Robert Chesang’s marriage to Maisy Pauline Omungala Chesang, a magistrate who works in Nyeri was allegedly in shambles, reports indicate.

A local daily reports that last year Chesang who was shot three times in the chest on Sunday at his Moke Gardens home in Lukenya, Machakos county was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife.

In an application, Maisy accused the deceased of being violent. On his part, Chesang’ said his estranged wife was working with “Athi River OCPD, OCS, deputy OCS and two individuals — Fred Too and Caroline Seet — to oppress him.”

He would later file a complaint against the Athi River police leadership and magistrates at Movoko law courts.

The case was transferred to the High Court only to be dismissed towards the end of 2018.

Magistrates recused themselves from the case. One refused to hear the case on grounds that they were friends with his wife, Maisy while the other cited personal reasons.

It was referred to the Machakos High Court where Justice George Odunga again referred it to a chief magistrate’s court in Machakos.

Police are also looking into a business deal gone sour as one of the lead cause of his death, the Star reports.

After gaining entry into his home, detectives found the father of two lying in a pool of blood with  documents on a couch, laptop, books and booklets all over the place.

His killers did not steal anything.

“This seems to be classic elimination using serious people, probably state operatives. He seemed to have been living in fear. Instead of opening the door, he first peeped through the window where he was shot and killed,” an officer told the daily.

His remains have since been moved to Shalom Hospital mortuary in Athi River.
