Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko can run the county from wherever he pleases, City Hall Deputy Director of Communication Elkana Jacob has said.
The communications director has also refuted claims that the county boss is in hiding after the government scaled down his security detail from 15 to 5 officers.
“I don’t know why people are claiming that Governor Mike Sonko is under ‘siege’. The City Governor has homes in several towns: Garissa, Kisumu, Mombasa, Kilifi, Malindi, Machakos, Nairobi, among others,” a statement reads in part.
Mr Jacob also insisted that Sonko has the right to hold meetings in any of his homes, but that does not mean that ‘he is in hiding.’

Speaking to a local TV station on Wednesday, the Nairobi county first lady Primerose Mbuvi said that she had not seen her husband (Sonko) since Friday.
She intimated that officers at their homes had also been recalled and were living in fear.
