A Swiss national collapsed and died in her residential house in Diani, Kwale County.

Police said Grossen Adelheid, 76 years, passed on in her room in their rental home at Watatu Watano area within Diani.

Preliminary findings linked the death to cardiopulmonary arrest.

The woman was in the company of a man who claimed to be his boyfriend at the time of the incident on Wednesday June 4.

A doctor visited the home and confirmed the death before the body was moved to the mortuary.

Elsewhere in Mathioya, Muranga County, one Peter Gacheru Gichohi, 38 drowned in a borehole at their home in Mbari ya Ireri village.

The body was retrieved by members of the public and later taken to a local mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

And in Kaptembwo, Nakuru, the body of a woman was found in Technology Farm.

A manager at the farm said he spotted the body in one of the corners and upon examination, it was found to have a visible mark of strangulation in the neck.

The body was moved to Nakuru County Annex mortuary, awaiting postmortem and identification.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man died by suicide on a tree in Kianjokoma, Embu County.

The deceased was identified as Joseph Nyaga and his body was found hanging on a macadamia tree after the mission.

The motive of the incident was not known.

This was among four cases of suicide reported to police on Wednesday.

The other cases were reported in Nyamira, Bomet and Nyeri Counties.

Police said they are investigating the cases.

Police say the trend has been worrying and increasing as up to two cases are reported daily.

The World Health Organisation says such cases are attributed to joblessness, death, academic failures or pressures, legal difficulties and financial difficulties.

Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder.
