Controversial political analyst and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s aide, Tony Gachoka, is not only a drunkard but he doubles up as a wife beater. Tony, who once appeared on Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) drunk, reportedly, batters his wife, Priscilla and is promiscuous.
According to The Nairobian, Priscilla was battered after she tried resisting when her husband dragged her out of bed at 3 am to make way for two women he had come home with on July 12, 2014.
Tony who is a force to reckon with in the political and business world, is a father and a husband but still lives out loud. For instance, on September 7, 2008, on Tony’s 36th birthday, his children woke up early in their Westlands home to surprise daddy.
Each with a present in hand, went into daddy’s bedroom to surprise him with breakfast in bed but it is reported that it was Tony who surprised the kids instead. Tony is said to have been in bed with two women, neither of them being their mother. The women were identified as air hostesses.
Gachoka who had been drinking the previous night, kicked the children out of his room and shut the door behind them.
Family members have described Tony an intelligent man who is deeply flawed. One family member gave an account of the night of August 15, 2015, when, Gachoka spent hundreds of thousands of shillings ‘appreciating’ good music from artistes Stella Mwangi (STL) and Just A Band on Industry Nite at Galileo Lounge.
Tony dished out money to musicians all the while his family was starving. He showed up at home three days later, dumped a bag of food on the floor and left. But that food, it seemed, had stayed in the car for too long, and the milk had gone bad, the beef, sausages and chicken were rotten and the bread was stale.
“It reached a point where he would summon the children and make them watch as he battered their mother. The children are traumatised and all their relatives avoid them because no one wants to engage Gachoka in a war,” one of Gachoka’s relatives says.
January 24 2017, his second born son suffered a breakdown and tried to commit suicide at a students’ hostel along Thika Road.
“He was frothing at the mouth, shouting very aggressively. He wanted to jump off the balcony. Good Samaritans took him to a hospital nearby where he was diagnosed with depression,” says another relative.
Gachoka did not visit his son in hospital. In fact on January 30, 2017, when he was discharged, Tony was picking up his brand new Mercedes coupe.
It is also said Tony’s son had to drop out of school due to lack of school fees. The boy had to be home schooled because the prominent business man refused to pay his school fees. His daughter is also said to have never completed her university education due to lack of school fees, as well.
According to Gachoka’s close relatives, he only pays school fees for his last-born child, who is at a prestigious boarding school in South Africa.
Gachoka has also allegedly caused his daughter a few jobs after threatening her employers.
