Traffic has built up along the busy Nairobi-Eldoret highway after two lorries collided on Friday morning.

According to Rongai OCPD Richard Rotich, the early morning accident involved two transit goods lorries at Molo River bridge.

One of the driver’s is said to have lost control. So bad was the impact that one of the driver’s died on the spot as the other fractured his legs.

He has been rushed to the Molo Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Traffic cops have been deployed to the area to control traffic.

In his first public address since taking office, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai cautioned motorists against carelessness on the roads over the Easter weekend.

“To avoid accidents on our roads, public vehicles on our roads are required to adhere to traffic rules, avoid over speeding and overloading,” he said, adding that the Service has taken necessary measures to ensure all citizens remain safe.

“We therefore call upon Kenyans to cooperate with police to ensure there is tranquility throughout the holiday.”
