Trevor John Story is an American professional baseball shortstop and second baseman who currently plays for the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball (MLB).
Born on November 15, 1992, in Irving, Texas, he stands 6’1″ and weighs about 209 pounds.
Story was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the first round (45th overall) of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Irving High School.
He made his MLB debut on April 4, 2016, and quickly became known for his power hitting, speed, and defensive skills at shortstop.
After six seasons with the Rockies, he signed a six-year, $140 million contract with the Boston Red Sox as a free agent in 2022 and has remained with the team, opting into the final years of his deal for 2026 and beyond.

Trevor grew up in a close-knit family in Irving, Texas, with his older brother Tyler Story.
Tyler, who is several years older, played baseball alongside Trevor at Irving High School, where the two brothers shared the field during Trevor’s freshman year when he was called up to the varsity team.

Career
Story was raised in Irving, Texas, where he developed his baseball skills under the guidance of his family.
His father frequently played catch and conducted backyard batting practice with rolled-up socks, teaching him the fundamentals without pressure.

After being selected by the Rockies in 2011, Story progressed through the minor leagues and burst onto the MLB scene in spectacular fashion.
On Opening Day in 2016, he became the first player in Major League history to hit two home runs in his debut game on Opening Day, both off Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke.
He followed that up by homering in each of his first four MLB games, setting an early tone for what would become a productive career.
With the Rockies from 2016 to 2021, Story established himself as one of the National League’s top shortstops, combining power and speed while playing in the thin air of Coors Field.
Injuries and team transitions led him to Boston, where he has dealt with ups and downs, including periods on the injured list.
In 2025, Story revived his career by playing a career-high 157 games, matching his defensive highs at shortstop and showing renewed power at the plate.
