Police in Meru have arrested a woman suspected of stabbing a 25-year-old man to death during an altercation at Athiru Ruujine Market.

The deceased, identified as Antony Mwenda, was fatally stabbed on the back, below his right shoulder, during the confrontation with a woman.

The body of Mwenda was found on a dirt road behind the market. Police said it had a visible deep cut consistent with a stabbing injury.

Police visited and processed the scene. A knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered a few metres away, concealed behind a rock.

The scene was photographed and documented before the body was taken to Nyambene Level 4 Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.

The woman was arrested and placed in police custody as investigations into the incident continue.

And a 39-year-old man died after he was buried by a landslide while harvesting sand in Kyathafu Village, Machakos County.

The incident occurred on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and was reported to police.

Police officers who rushed to the scene established that the deceased, identified as Jonathan Harun, had been harvesting sand when the ground suddenly gave way, burying him.

His colleagues reportedly attempted to rescue him but found him unresponsive by the time they reached him.

Scenes of Crime personnel processed the site before the body was removed.

Police said the body had a broken left leg and injuries to the face and abdomen.

The body was taken to Machakos Funeral Home, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.

And a 74-year-old hotel guest died while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital after falling ill at a hotel in Buruburu.

The deceased, identified as Saleh Said Aljabri, was staying at Silver Palace Hotel when he reportedly became unwell on Thursday night, September 3, 2026.

The hotel management was alerted by a staff member at about 10.45pm that the guest was feeling unwell.

Hotel staff rushed Aljabri to Nairobi East Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.

Police officers later visited the hotel room where he had been staying and found vomit and medication believed to be for high blood pressure.

The body had no visible injuries, police said.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Nairobi City Funeral Home, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
