President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged former Meru Governor, Peter Munya to drop his petition challenging Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s win.

Speaking in Maua, the President said that Munya would get a government appointment.

Uhuru had before the August 8 elections promised a government job to the Meru governorship loser.

The race between Munya and Kiraitu was heated with both trading accusations and insults.

The former county boss had accused Deputy President William Ruto of sabotaging his efforts to bag the governor seat. He said that Ruto felt threatened as he too was going to run for the presidency in 2022.

The PNU party leader has changed tune as he vows to throw his weight behind Kenyatta’s re-election weeks after defecting to Raila Odinga led NASA.

The head  of state has asked the Meru people show up and vote in peace as they did in August.
