Suba South MP, John Mbadi has told Kahawa Tungu he cannot retract his statement as that would “mean I acknowledge Uhuru as the President.”

He spoke to Kahawa Tungu minutes after being kicked out of the National Assembly after he refused to withdraw a statement that ‘Kenya has no President.’

Speaker Justin Muturi ordered the leader of minority for being disorderly and will remain outside for the ‘balance of this sitting.’

“I had important motions to second in the house and it was pertinent that I be in the assembly today but then gain, I could not be coaxed into accepting Uhuru is the legitimately elected President when I hold an otherwise conviction,” he said.

The MPs are expected to vote for 9 members who will represent Kenya in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) which has stalled its activities since June.

The opposition has maintained they will not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as the ‘legitimate’ president as their leader Raila Odinga won the nullified August 8 election.

Mbadi said that the coalition will not submit names for the Appointments committee that will vet nominees to the cabinet.

“As you are aware and is clearly spelt out in standing order 204(1), the only responsibility of the committee on appointment is to consider for approval by the House, appointments under Article 152(2) of the constitution.

“This requirement presupposes and anticipates the naming of cabinet secretaries by the appointing authority. In view of the above, I wish to remind you that the office of the appointing authority for cabinet secretaries is vacant hence no need to constitute the Committee on Appointments.”

The legislator said that NASA will only submit a list of nominees after the office of the President is substantively occupied.
