The late Yvonne Wamalwa, wife to the late Kijana Wamalwa died a ‘poor woman after getting fired by the Jubilee government,’ Kiminini MP, Chris Wamalwa has disclosed.

According to the legislator, the deceased did not die in office as claimed by government.

Ms Wamalwa until her demise was the Deputy Director in the Asia and Australasia Directorate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

”President Mwai Kibaki appointed our departed sister as an ambassador. But when Jubilee took over, she was sacked. Yvonne died a poor woman,” the Kiminini MP said.

Chris says that it was because of the financial constraints that the deceased was forced to live with her sister in Nanyuki, where she passed on on Wednesday.

”Because of her poor status, she could not afford medication and that is why she decided to go and stay with her sister in Nanyuki,” he added.

He says that the government should have retained ‘her in the position Kibaki appointed her to. It is so painful that she just died like that.’

Ms Wamalwa has left behind two children and will be buried on Saturday next to her husband.

President Uhuru Kenyatta eulogized her as a ‘selfless leader who was a role model in her community and in the nation. Hers was servant-hood leadership.’

”As an ambassador, it was always about the interests of Kenya. She served with distinction,” Kenyatta said.
