A conductor of a lorry was electrocuted as he offloaded sawdust in Athi River, Machakos County.
Police said Anthony Njuguna was in the company of his driver and were offloading the product when he accidentally touched a live wire in mining area.
The two were offloading the product within Getech Maxinav Company on Wednesday evening when the incident happened.
Witnesses said the conductor accidentally touched a sagging Kenya power live wire using a metallic spade and was electrocuted.
He died on the spot and the body was moved to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Meanwhile, two people died by suicide in separate incidents reported to police on Wednesday.
The first incident was reported in Kisii’s Bigege village where one Erick Nyakundi, 44 who is a teacher at Sikawa Secondary School in Transmara East Sub-county, was found dead after suspected suicide.
The body was found hanging behind the house from a roof truss with a rope tied around his neck.
The scene was visited and the body was moved to Kisii referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem. No suicide note was recovered.
In Bungoma’s Menu village, Sirisia, a 16-year-old boy was found dead on a tree.
The body of the boy was found hanging on a tree with a piece of cloth tied around his neck.
The motive of the incident is yet to be known.
The body with no visible injuries was moved to Bungoma Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid campaigns to address the trend.
The World Health Organisation says such cases are attributed to joblessness, death, academic failures or pressures, legal difficulties and financial difficulties.
Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder.
