Yael Cohen is a South African-Canadian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and businesswoman who has an estimated net worth of $100 million. Although she grew up in a wealthy family, a significant portion of her fortune is believed to come from her 2022 divorce settlement with music executive Scooter Braun.

Cohen is best known as the founder of Fuck Cancer, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cancer prevention, early detection, and open conversations about the disease, particularly among younger generations.

    Early Life

Yael Cohen was born on November 5, 1986, in South Africa and was primarily raised in Vancouver, Canada.

She grew up in an affluent and entrepreneurial family. Her father, David Cohen, is a mining executive who built significant wealth in the natural resources sector. He founded Gold Wheaton Group, a mining royalty company that was sold in 2011 for around $1 billion. Earlier in his career, he also co-founded Northern Orion Resources, which was acquired in 2007 for approximately $1.5 billion.

Cohen later attended the University of British Columbia, where she studied political science. After graduating, she briefly worked in finance before turning her focus to philanthropy and social entrepreneurship.

    Founding “Fuck Cancer”

In 2009, after her mother Diane Cohen was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Yael Cohen founded the nonprofit Fuck Cancer.

The organization was created to encourage younger people to talk openly about cancer, prioritize early detection, and promote prevention education. At the time, Cohen believed many cancer awareness campaigns were primarily aimed at older audiences and often avoided frank discussions about the disease.

Through social media campaigns, celebrity partnerships, and youth-focused messaging, the organization quickly gained global attention. Over time, it expanded into educational programs, awareness initiatives, and fundraising campaigns designed to reduce stigma and encourage regular health screenings.

    Awards and Recognition

Cohen’s work in social entrepreneurship and philanthropy has earned her recognition from several organizations.

She has been named one of Fast Company’s “100 Most Creative People in Business” and was included on the Women’s Executive Network list of the “100 Most Powerful Women in Canada.”

She was also selected for Oprah Winfrey’s “SuperSoul 100,” a list honoring leaders and visionaries working to create positive social change.

    Marriage to Scooter Braun

In 2014, Yael Cohen married Scooter Braun, a prominent music manager known for representing global stars such as Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

The couple became a high-profile power pair in entertainment and business circles. During their marriage, they had three children and lived primarily in Los Angeles, while owning several luxury properties across California.

Braun filed for divorce in July 2021, and the divorce was finalized in September 2022.

    Divorce Settlement

As part of the divorce agreement, Scooter Braun paid Yael Cohen approximately $20 million in an equalization payment. He also agreed to pay about $60,000 per month in child support.

Cohen retained several valuable assets from the marriage, including:

    • The couple’s Brentwood compound, valued at more than $30 million
    • Various bank accounts and artwork
    • Other personal property

Braun retained a separate mansion in Brentwood, Los Angeles, along with a Gulfstream G450 private jet and a large art collection reportedly worth more than $100 million.

    Real Estate

During their marriage, Cohen and Braun owned several high-profile properties.

In 2014, they purchased a mansion in Brentwood, Los Angeles for $13.1 million. In 2020, they expanded the estate by purchasing a neighboring property for $18 million in an off-market deal from John Travolta and Kelly Preston.

The couple also owned a luxury estate in Montecito, California, which they purchased for $10.9 million in 2014 and sold in 2021 for $28 million, earning a substantial profit.

    Tom Brady Romance Rumors

In March 2026, media reports linked Yael Cohen to retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady. The speculation began after the two were reportedly seen together at a birthday celebration hosted by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez for former NFL star Tony Gonzalez.

According to reports, the pair were seen talking closely and leaving the event together, sparking speculation about a possible relationship. However, neither Cohen nor Brady publicly confirmed the rumors.
