    Siblings

Jonny has three younger brothers, namely Michael, Easton, and Bryce, all of whom have pursued hockey at high levels, creating one of the most notable sibling legacies in Minnesota hockey.

His father, Mike Brodzinski, played college hockey at St. Cloud State University and became a significant influence on all four sons.

Michael Brodzinski, the closest in age to Jonny, was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, just seven picks before Jonny was selected by the Los Angeles Kings.

The brothers faced each other in college, with Michael playing for the University of Minnesota.

Easton Brodzinski also played college hockey and has competed professionally, including in the ECHL with teams like the Allen Americans.

Bryce, the youngest, completed the family milestone by playing in the NCAA Frozen Four, following in the footsteps of his older brothers.

The four Brodzinski boys, born between 1993 and 2000, grew up competing intensely against one another on ponds and rinks, fostering a competitive yet supportive environment that shaped their careers.

    Career

Brodzinski played high school hockey at Blaine High School before moving to junior hockey with the Fargo Force in the USHL.

He then committed to St. Cloud State University, where he made an immediate impact.

As a freshman, he led all NCAA Division I rookies with 22 goals and posted strong numbers throughout his college career, helping the Huskies in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

The Los Angeles Kings selected him in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

He turned professional after college, debuting with the Kings and spending time with their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.

In 2019, he signed with the San Jose Sharks as a free agent before joining the New York Rangers organization in 2020.

With the Rangers, he has found a steady role, contributing as a depth forward while also captaining the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL at times.

Known for his two-way play and ability to produce in the minors, Brodzinski has appeared in over 200 NHL games across his career with the Kings, Sharks, and Rangers.

    Accolades

In college, Brodzinski was named to the NCHC All-Conference First Team in 2015 and received All-Rookie recognition earlier in his tenure at St. Cloud State.

He was selected to participate in the 2017 AHL All-Star Game alongside a teammate from the Reign.

In the NHL, he has been recognized for his dedication and character.

The New York Rangers chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association nominated him for the Bill Masterton Trophy, which honors perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.

He has also received internal team awards with the Rangers for his efforts during the regular season.
