Two suspects are being held in Kilimanjaro Police station for stealing a car that supposedly belongs to State House, Kenya. The car, a black Nissan V8 model, is said to be one of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s security escort.

The car was intercepted at Bomang’ombe and was registered under fake Tanzanian number plate, T954 DEQ.

The car was reported missing on August 19, by the Kenyan police, alerting their Tanzanian counterparts of the car theft. The original registration number is KCP 184R.

Kilimanjaro province Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hamisi Issah, confirmed the reports saying that the suspects were giving contradicting statements hence they believe that the car is the one reported missing by State House, Kenya.

“We interrogated those who were with this vehicle and they gave contradicting statements. On further inquiry, we discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen on August 19,” Issah said.

The two suspects are residents of Moshi town.

Back in 2014, a Presidential escort car was recovered in Kampala, Uganda after being stolen in Nairobi.
