A letter doing rounds on the internet asking Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu to step aside is fake, Chief Justice David Maraga has said.
In the letter, Maraga asks Mwilu, accused of corruption, failure to pay tax and improper dealings with Imperial bank, now in receivership, to take time away from her office until she clears her name.

“In addition with the dignity and reputation of the Judiciary at stake, I would like to suggest that you consider taking some time away from the office until this unfortunate matter is dispensed with,” it read in part.
Many including Mwilu’s lawyer, Nelson Havi want the author of the letter brought to book at the same pace the DPP and DCI charged “DCJ Mwilu for using her official letterhead in an application for a loan to Imperial Bank Limited as if it was wrong.”
“Could you put our taxes to good use and get to the bottom of this letter and the hashtag #MwiluTheWicked,” Havi said.
In an already trending hashtag on Twitter, Kenyans voice their concerns about the second in command at the Supreme Court while others feel that the author of the letter should be investigated.

The DPP must move and arrest those behind the forgery of signature of @dkmaraga in a fake letter to advance #MwiluTheWicked. They are well known. @DCI_Kenya @NelsonHavi

I want to see ARREST OBADO Trending. The Obsession people have for Mwilu is very undefeated. If she is a Criminal, can't you all wait for the case to be handled in court like the rest, ain't you all very petty? Someone somewhere is impatiently waiting to be DCJ. 🤔#MwiluTheWicked
