    EACC Hands Over Recovered Property Estimated At Sh780 Million To Nakuru, Bomet Counties

    The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has handed over recovered public properties estimated at Sh780 million to respective caretakers.

    The handing ceremony held at Sarova Woodlands in Nakuru, saw 11 public assets handed over to Nakuru and Bomet Counties.

    The properties include two parcels of Nakuru Municipality land valued at Sh42 million reserved for a survey camp by the Department of Survey in Nakuru County.

    The Municipality also recovered a block estimated at Sh74.2 million reserved for public officers’ residences and another piece of land valued at Sh150 million belonging to Postal Corporation of Kenya. The land is said to have been disrupted during irregular transfer of property rights

    Naivasha Municipality received back 56.82 hectares of land valued at Sh490 million. The land was reserved for research purposes by the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research organization (KALRO).

    Sotik Township was also handed back a block of land valued at Sh4.2 million which was set aside for construction of a stadium.

    The exercise was led by the commission chairman Rtd. Archbishop Eliud Wabukala and CEO Twalib Mbarak.

    During the ceremony, EACC announced that it has been successful in averting property loss estimated at Sh 7.4 billion in the 2018/2019 Financial Year.

    According to the EACC Chairman, the recovery was in line with the commission’s strategic plan which emphasizes on the restitution of illegal acquired public assets.

    On his part, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui expressed his gratitude over the commissions role, particularly in the recoveries done in his county.
