Actor Patrick Muldoon, widely known for his roles in popular television dramas and films, has died at the age of 57 following a reported heart attack, according to family members.

Muldoon’s sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, said the actor collapsed at his Beverly Hills home on Sunday morning. He had been spending time with his girlfriend before going to shower, after which he was found unconscious on the bathroom floor.

Emergency responders were called to the scene and attempted to revive him, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

Muldoon rose to fame in the early 1990s, building a career across both television and film. He was best known for portraying Austin Reed on the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives, a role he played from 1992 to 1995 and reprised between 2011 and 2012.

He also gained recognition for his role as Richard Hart on Melrose Place, becoming a familiar face during the show’s peak years. Earlier in his career, he appeared in sitcoms including Who’s the Boss? and Saved by the Bell.

Beyond television, Muldoon featured in several films, most notably the 1997 science fiction movie Starship Troopers, where he played Zander Barcalow. His later film credits included roles in “Deadlock” (2021), “Vanquish” (2021), “Dakota” (2022), “Marlowe” (2022) and “Murder at Hollow Creek” (2023).

His final film, “Dirty Hands,” is expected to be released later this year.

Muldoon was also working behind the scenes as an executive producer on the upcoming film “Kockroach,” which stars Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton and Zazie Beetz.
