Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati could spend six months behind bars, pay a Sh300,000 fine for ignoring a court order. The order was issued on December, 11 2017 demanding that the county boss does not interfere with the county’s Public Service Board. A Kisumu Labour Court ordered that the board remains in office pending a ruling on February 5, 2018. But Wangamati dismissed the board saying that it was not he but the county assembly. “I did not send the board home. Direct flights from Kenya to the United States (US) will start in October 2018, Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced. The daily flights between Nairobi and New York will take an estimated 15 hours instead of the 22 hours spent due to layovers. The Tuesday evening power outage was due to a technical hitch emanating from Kenya Power’s transmission system, the company explained. The blackout hit parts of Nairobi, Mount Kenya, Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley and Coast regions. ”A technical hitch emanating from our transmission system has led to the loss of electricity to parts of the country this evening,” Kenya Power’s statement read in part. Case challenging Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s August 8 win has been withdrawn after the petitioners failed to provide evidence before Justice Msagha Mbogholi on Monday. About 1,000 striking Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Naivasha workers have been laid off. Chinese Communications and Construction Company fired the workers who they say were participating in an ‘illegal’ strike. Beware of ‘one ring’ international call scam, where unsuspecting mobile phone users are swindled out of their airtime. Kenyans have in the recent weeks been receiving calls from foreign countries only to call back and sometimes listen to an automated message or are redirected to premium numbers.
