2.9 million Huduma namba cards belonging to 31 percent of applicants are yet to be collected. The government started issuing the cards six months ago across the country. Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna said that out of the 9.3 million cards disbursed,  only 6.4 million had been collected. “The number of cards so far processed is 10.5 million. Family and friends of missing blogger Bogonko Bosire on Saturday held a candle-lighting event in Nairobi in remembrance of elite journalist who went missing in 2013. Bogonko Bosire was a journalist and author of Jackal News, a popular website that gained prominence for publishing titillating tidbits on the high and the mighty. Internet sensation,  Aaron Asiba Matendechere, has moved to court, seeking compensation from three corporate bodies for misuse of intellectual property. Matendechere rose to fame this year after a clip of him and  a neighbour circulated on social media. In the clip, the neighbour, Musyoka, was being interviewed by the media. Matendechere, who was passing by, warned Musyoka against divulging details of illegal electricity connection in the area, telling him instead to ask the government for a job. Kenya on Saturday received 200,000 doses of Chinese vaccine, Sinopharm. The consignment which arrived at 9.00am was received by Ministry of Health officials, led by Principal secretary,  susan Mochache. “The vaccines we are receiving today are testament to the cordial relations that exist between our two countries that extend beyond health care to include trade and other sectors of development,” Mochache said. The UK has scrapped Kenya from its Covid-19 red list, six months after imposing the travel advisory. Through a statement on Friday evening, the UK announced that  Kenya, Egypt, Bangladesh, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Turkey have been moved to the amber list. “From 4 am Wednesday, September 22, the eight countries will move from red to amber,” UK Foreign Travel advice (FTA) said. Taxi hailing app Bolt has come under fire on social media this past week owing to some rider related incidences. Just recently, a story doing rounds on social media elicited uproar from citizens after a rider narrated how a driver had attacked her, injuring her hand. Fishermen in Rusinga Island, Homa Bay County have discovered five explosives at Litare beach while in their fishing activities in Lake Victoria. The explosives fished out in a heavy metallic box were caught using the anchor of the fishermen’s boat near Ngodhe Island. Mbita Sub- County Police Commander Stanely Atavachi said the bombs are in safe custody and will be detonated by experts. Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has urged the youth to take up online jobs to supplement their income during the pandemic period. The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in millions of job losses due to strained economic period. However, Oguna says there was a significant improvement for online workers with access to opportunities such as transcription, digital marketing, online writingvirtial assistance, data entry and management. Kenya has paid at least Ksh1.657 billion to Japanese, Chinese and European banks in a bid to secure future loans, the Controller of Budget (COB) Margret Nyakango has revealed. According to the revelations made before MP, the amount known as ‘commitment fees’ is aimed at securing future borrowing for projects such as the expansion of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), construction of a dam to supplement water supply in Nairobi and road construction. “We recommend that these loans should be cancelled and this will reduce the loan book balance and consequently save taxpayers payments on the commitment fees,” said…

An unnamed person has blocked the dissolution of Liverpool-based SPS Sportsoft Limited, which would have seen its Ksh2 billion worth of assets taken over by UK government.
