269 people have tested positive for Covid-19, from a sample size of 3,872 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the positivity rate down to 6.9 percent. From the cases, 265 are Kenyans while 4 are foreigners. 135 males while 134 are females. The youngest is a one-year-old child while the oldest is 101 years. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has frozen the accounts of Kenyatta University over the institution’s non-remittance of statutory deductions amounting into billions of shillings. Kenyatta University is struggling with a debt of over Ksh5.6 billion, of which Ksh2 billion is owed Ksh2 billion. The university has been collecting statutory deductions such as pension, salary taxes and health insurance contributions from its employees, without remitting them. A High Court judge is facing removal from office for gross misconduct and defrauding a widow in land suit. In a case filed at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) by the widow, the judge is accused of bribery and conflict of interest. A Kenyan woman has been arraigned in court for stealing Sh3.8 million and items worth Sh800,000 from her mzungu boyfriend. The court heard that Kevin Michael Queen and Judy Onchiri first met on a dating site before deciding to meet. The lady lured the man into her home in Lang’ata where the alleged theft took place. The Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Fred Matiang’i spent Friday night in Laikipia county monitoring the ongoing security operations in the area. Residents of Rarieda county were left in shock after a parent at Pala Kobong’ primary schol collapsed and died within the premises on Friday evening. 50 year old Peter Mito Owino is said to have visited the school to check on the child’s performance when he collapsed. According to Rarieda sub-county Director of Education Mr. Elija Adie, Owino had just arrived at the school, and was making way fr the staff room when he collapsed. ‘Good bots’ on Twitter will now be identifiable by a label added to their profiles, the social platform has said. The update is reportedly based on feedback from users who said they were interested in getting more context about non-human accounts. According to Twitter, good bots include those that share information such as Covid-19, weather or public museums. This however, does not mean that all bots with such information will be labelled. Sudan has the lowest internet costs in Africa, a study by British technology research firm, Cable Shows has revealed.  The country offers the lowest prices for internet data, charging less than a dollar for 1GB (gigabyte) internet. It ranks as the cheapest in Africa and according to Worldwide Mobile Data Pricing 2021, is among the five cheapest countries for mobile data in the world. Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i has created a new Sub-County in Laikipia with an aim of enhancing security and service delivery. In a gazette notice dated September 9, 2021, Dr Matiang’i created the sub-county of Kirima, headquartered in Ol Moran. Apple has sent out invitations for a “California Streaming” event to be held at 8pm on September 13. The invitation does not give any clues, but the company is expected to unveil the latest iPhone and present a bunch of devices during the event. Contractors are now eying assets owned by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) over a Ksh36.9 billion debt that the state agency has been unable to pay. Several cases have been filed in different courts by the contractors, now at different stages at the arbitration tribunals, the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
