Kenyan YouTube content creators are set to receive up to Sh1.1 million every month for using the company’s short video making feature, Shorts. The company announced in July that it had set a Sh10 billion fund to pay creators through 2022. This is aimed at encouraging creators to post more short videos on the platform. Ruai Family Hospital’s operating license has been reinstated a day after it was revoked by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC). KMPDC has however deregistered the facility as a vaccination center, following allegations of diversion of vaccines. A man from Dagoretti has been charged with stealing 74 avocados worth Sh2,220. Kibera court  Senior resident magistrate Renee Kitagwa heard that Paul Njau stole the fruits belonging to Michael Karanja on August 28. The prosecutor told the court that Njau jumped into a building in the area, stole the avocados and stashed them in a sack. A caretaker who saw him committing the act alerted the neighbours. Deputy President William Ruto is the most guarded second-in-command in the history of Kenya, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has said. Tiktok has banned the viral crate challenge making rounds on social media. The ve-making company expressed concerns that participants in the challenge could be seriously injured. The challenge involves stacking up crates into a pyramid and attempting to climb and descend from the unstable structure. As expected, many people do not make it and come tumbling down from the peak, giving social media users a dose of laughter. Auctioneers have been unable to find a buyer for the home belonging to former Nakumatt CEO Atul Shah. The home was taken over by auctioneers in July after Shah failed to pay a debt of Ksh2 billion owed to the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB). “The sale of Mr Atul’s house did not happen last month although we received numerous enquiries. Microsoft is set to release Windows 11 on october 5 as a free upgrade to eligible Windows 10 computers or preloaded into new hardware for shipping. The company says that the upgrade will be done in phases, with new eligible devices getting the priority. At least 100 different Huawei mobile smartphone models have the stable variant of the Operating system, the company said. Huawei unveiled its operating system after the US sanctions last year. The government has embarked on the construction of a 700-bed capacity military hospital in the Kabete Army Barracks in Nairobi. The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Kenya National Research and Referral Hospital (KNRRH) was presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Instagram users will be required to share their date of birth to continue using the app. The platform updated its policies, requiring new users to provide their birth dates when signing up. However, older users were able to continue using the app even if they had not provided the info at sign-up. Kenyans borrowed at least Ksh1.2 billion every day on Safaricom’s overdraft facility Fuliza in six months to June 2021 as compared to Ksh972.3 million borrowed daily in a similar period in 2020. WhatsApp has reportedly rescinded on a decision to limit functions of the messaging app for users who do not agree to their updated terms of services. Early this year, the company faced backlash after sending out a prompt asking users to accept the updated policy changes or delete their accounts. In the last 24 hours, 346 people tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 3,553,  bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 235,298 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,367,077. The Positivity rate is now 9.7 percent. 1,404 patients have recovered from the disease,  1,327 have been discharged from home-based isolation while 77 have been discharged from various health facilities across the country. This brings the total number of recoveries to 222,357. Out of these, 180,176 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program while 42,181 are from various health facilities.
